Ein Duftstoff ist ein den Geruchssinn anregender, chemischer Stoff. Man unterschiedet

  • Pflanzliche Duftstoffe
  • Tierische Duftstoffe
  • Duftstoffe beim Menschen
  • Synthetische Duftstoffe

Duftstoffe können bei empfindlichen Personen Allergien auslösen; dies hängt nicht von der Herkunft (natürlich bzw. synthetisch) ab.[1]

Die Deklarationspflicht gilt für Einsatzkonzentrationen ≥ 0,001 % in Leave-on-Produkten (Mittel, die auf der Haut/in den Haaren verbleiben) und ≥ 0,01 % in Rinse-off-Produkten (in auszuspülenden/abzuspülenden Mitteln).
